Kind of course: Kyiv: One week Program in Kyiv will be organized by old experienced AEGEE-Kyiv members: Sightseeing - the Golden Gate (one of the few remaining fortifications form the times of Prince Yaroslav the Wise), the St. Sophia's Cathedral (11th century, the oldest 13-domed surviving church of Kyivan-Rus), the Kyivo-Pecherska Lavra (the largest Orthodox Church monastery) with sacral caves etc. Kyiv today, with the population approaching 3 million, is truly one of the great cities of Europe. The cradle of the ancient Kyivan-Rus Civilization, modern Kyiv beautiful parks, monumental buildings, reflecting the graceful elegance of different architectural styles and periods. Seek out the cool shadows, the ancient walls of our golden domed cathedrals, built as symbols of God's glory and the power of the Kyiv-Rus Empire. Additional excursions to Uman (it is famous for its dentrological park-reserve "Sofievka"-one of the most outstanding monuments of garden architecture), Pirogovo (the largest open-air museums in Europe) during selebrating the most exciting ancient holiday IVANA KUPALA with jumping over the fire. Zaporizhzhya: Zaporizhzhya is the great place of historical interest. It's the motherland of the unique military formation the Zaporizhzhian Cossacks that are considered to be the most distinctive phenomenon in Ukrainian history. These fearless warriors accounted for most of the country's past glory and significantly affected the course of events in early post-medieval Europe. The island Khortitsa situated on the territory of the modern city of Zaporizhzhya is the place where the fortified settlement of the Cossaks, called Zaporizhzhska Sich, existed. Our participants will have the opportunity to see the wonderful show, where the modern Cossacks present horse-back riding tricks and swords fighting.
