Of course in the end it all comes down to your application letter. If
you don't take time to fill it out properly your chances are small.
Remember that the SU-organisers make a big effort to organise a summer
university. So it is only normal that you try to make a bit of an
effort to fill out the application letter and supply them with a good
motivation.
SU
Summer University.
A SU consists of an event organised by an AEGEE Antenna, lasting at
least two weeks. Although there different kinds of SU's, we can find
commmon
aspects indentifying the programme as a whole in placing students
coming
from all over Europe, encouraging the sharing of different cultural
patrimonies
and the developing of linguistic capabilities.
AEGEE SU
AEGEE Summer Universities
are very different from other summery aboad sojourns: they are
organised
by students for students. Often they include workshops concerning the
history,
literature and cinema of the hosting area. This once again, reflects
AEGEE's
traditional formula: acquaint Europeans with Europe. Moreover the SU
distinguishes
itself by the extensive leisure programme.
Lodging
According to the type of event
and its relative philosophy
sleeping conditions may vary considerably. As you read in the booklet,
from “tents” to “gym” (sleeping bags on the floor), to more luxurious
“youth hostels”, the offer is wide. Please consider lodging
descriptions carefully as you evaluate the events!!! Also think that
the price you will be charged is quite low, and this is the only way to
concretely allow as many and different people as possible to apply.
Summer
University Type
ALL the Summer University events offer you fun and an exciting
programme. In particular, they also guarantee at least one meal per day
and lodging for the whole event: included in the price (max € 80 per
week eventually plus the price of one optional excursion).
Summer Course
(SC): the basic SU type; mainly a cultural course (see programme for
each event on www.aegee.org/su!)
Summer Course Plus
(SC+): like the SC, adding support or official recognition by its
University; professional teachers
Summer Event
(SE): usually organized by a fresh staff of organizers
Language Course
(LC): a language course with at least 16h/week tuition
Language Course
Plus (LC+): an intensive language course with official
recognition by the University, professional teachers and experienced
organizers
Travelling Summer
University (TSU): a cultural travel organized at
least by two local AEGEE branches in cooperation. Its price includes
entrance to museums and interest sites, workshops/conferences, and the
cost of transport from the first to the last place mentioned in the
programme.
SC
Summer Course
Duration: a duration between 2 and 4 weeks
Tuition: at least 10 hours per week
Participation fee: maximum of 60 EURO per week
for which at least one meal per day, lodging and tuition have to be
provided.
Social programme: included
Number of participants: Minimal 15
Corpus Iridicum: Summer Course is a course of
any subject organised by one or more AEGEE Antennae and Contact
Antennae. AEGEE Contacts or other groups of students or associations
can organise Summer Courses only in collaboration with an official
AEGEE body (locals, Comité Directeur, Working Groups, Summer
University Co-ordination Team) that will be responsible for the course
towards the association.
Summer Course Plus
Summer Course Plus
Duration: between 2 and 4 weeks
Tuition: 20 hours tuition a week.
Participation fee: 80 Euro a week (including
lodging, one meal a day
and tuition).
Number of participants: a minimum of 20
participants.
Corpus Iridicum: A Summer Course Plus is an
intensive course of a specific subject organised by one or more AEGEE
Antennae which have already organised at least one Summer University.
2These courses are officially recognised and supported by the
university where they take place and lessons are taught by professional
teachers.
LC
Language Course
Duration: a duration between 2 and 4 weeks
Tuition: at least 16 hours tuition per week
Participation fee: a maximum of 60 EURO per week
for which at least one meal per day, lodging and tuition have to be
provided.
Number of participants: a minimum of 15
participants
Corpus Iridicum: A Language Course is a course
of language organised by one or more AEGEE Antennae and Contact
Antennae. 2AEGEE Contacts or other groups of students or associations

Number of participants: a minimum of 20
participants
Corpus Iridicum: A Language Course Plus is an
intensive course of language organised by one or more AEGEE Antennae
which have already organised at least one Summer University. These
courses are officially recognised and supported by the university where
they take place and lessons are taught by professional teachers.
TSU
Travelling Summer University
Duration: a duration between 2 and 4 weeks
Participation fee: a maximum of 80 EURO per week
for which lodging for all participants in at least four different
places is provided; conferences, workshops and discussions about
cultural, artistic, political or natural aspects of the crossed regions
are organised and at least travel from the first to the last place
mentioned in the programme, lodging, one meal per day and entrances to
museums, historical or archaeological sites and spectacles are
provided.
Number of participants: a minimum of 12
participants
Corpus Iridicum: A Travelling Summer University
is a cultural travel through Europe organised by at least an AEGEE
Antenna and another AEGEE Antenna or Contact Antenna of different
places.
SE

Duration: a duration of 1 or 2 weeks
Participation fee: a maximum of 60 EURO per week
for which at least one meal per day and lodging have to be provided.
Number of participants: a minimum of 15
participants
Corpus Iridicum: A Summer Event is an AEGEE
event organised by one or more AEGEE Antennae and Contact Antennae.
2AEGEE Contacts can organise Summer Events only in collaboration with
the Comité Directeur, one or more Working Groups or the Summer
University Coordination Team, that will be responsible for the course
towards the association.
The AEGEE locals involved in the organization of a Summer Event can
only be at their first experience as organizer of any kind of Summer
University.
